It’s a Three-peat for PowerStore
- February 15, 2023
The recognition for Dell PowerStore’s non-stop innovation continues. TechTarget has announced its 2022 Storage Products of the Year awards, and we are honored to be adding another trophy to our shelf. For the third year in a row, TechTarget recognized PowerStore as one of the best enterprise storage products in the disk and disk subsystems category – stepping up in its ranking from bronze to silver. These repeat awards mean PowerStore is achieving one of its key design goals: to keep the platform continuously modern.
In just a short amount of time, PowerStore has gained incredible momentum in the market. Large companies are choosing PowerStore, with deployments in over 90% of the Fortune 500 vertical industry sectors. Midsize and smaller companies are also jumping on board, with more than 16,000 units shipped to more than 90 countries.¹ PowerStore’s success can be attributed to its simplicity, self-optimizing scale-up/scale-out design, all-NVMe performance, programmable architecture, Future Proof program support and more, a unique combination of advantages that allows us to serve a diverse portfolio of customers with all-flash, modern storage.
This is a major leap upgrade, not just window dressing” – Products of the Year judge, TechTarget
Thanks to its flexible container-based architecture, PowerStore continues to evolve rapidly, adding significant new value and innovation with each release. New capabilities are passed directly to existing customers without disruption and at no additional cost. As TechTarget pointed out in the award announcement, the latest PowerStore update is much more than a simple “dot” release. PowerStoreOS 3.0 delivered 120 new software features – even more capabilities than in the original 2020 product launch.
Highlights of the PowerStoreOS 3.0 enhancements include:
More VMware integrations with end-to-end visibility within the PowerStore manager GUI, giving customers the ability to provision VM-level PowerStore services like snapshots and replication directly from vSphere.
More ways to protect and move data, with the addition of native file, vVols and metro area synchronous replication, now you can protect any workload (block, vVols or file) entirely within the PowerStore environment.
Deeper cybersecurity, including Hardware Root of Trust for immutable silicon-based protection against malware tampering, third-party key manager support, end-to-end FIPS 140-2 compliance and CEPA-enabled ransomware detection.
Enterprise file enhancements including replication and increased file performance, with the addition of VMware file support and implementation of new security features like file-level retention/WORM and third-party monitoring.
Our customers understand and trust PowerStore’s promise to evolve with business needs to radically simplify IT for the long term. We’ve kept this promise by continuing to deliver new features that align to our customers’ priorities time and again.
Here is what our customers are saying.
“The VMware integrations are a huge win; the array auto-tunes itself for running VMs on NFS and offers native VMware metro capabilities…it’s a really simple array to manage.” – John Lochausen, Solutions Architect, WWT
“The new native replication setup was perfect. I wish I could have the same UI for other products!” – Ulrich Betzler, Storage Architect, KIT
“PowerStore helps us expand how we think about data. Automation is the key, and the ability to interface with CI/CD type workflows and tools like Kubernetes.” – James Lowey, TGEN
“Our on-premises implementation of PowerStore provides unrivaled performance for all our enterprise applications and our cloud replicated file system. It’s also the backbone to our disaster recovery plan.” – Tim Hindley, IT Operations Manager, DOWL
