The Workplace is Changing

The workplace is changing. How people work is changing.

And as Sara Sutton Fell, the Founder and CEO of FlexJobs, knows all too well, “what people want from work is changing and flexible work is a really critical part of that transformation.”

With our mutual support of flexible work, it comes as no surprise that Dell and FlexJobs have come together to showcase the viability of flex work in today’s workplace. FlexJobs has continuously recognized Dell in their Top 100 Companies with Remote Jobs List  and the two companies have joined to support the flex work message at conferences such as TRaD Works Forum and Dell Technologies World. Recently Dell and FlexJobs came together to showcase Sara as a CEO and Founder of a well-known company as well as a mom who successfully balances her work, team and personal life through flexible work while using Dell technology though out her day.

With improved work-life balance, team members are 4x as likely to be engaged at work and 2x as likely to want to stay at their current jobs. However, it is not a one size fits all solution. Dell’s Connected Workplace Program recognizes that work flexibility comes in many forms including remote, flextime, part-time jobs, job sharing or compressed work week schedules. With that understanding, Dell is able to provide various flex work options for a wide range of positions. By offering flex work options, Dell has not only realized the benefit of an engaged and productive workforce, the Connected Workplace Program also directly improves the company’s bottom line and its impact on the environment. Dell has saved millions in real estate costs since implementing the Program, consolidating many of its offices worldwide. In addition, it is estimated that Dell employees in the U.S. alone avoid over 136 million miles of travel per year, saving over $12 million in fuel costs and avoiding over 35,000 metric tons of CO2e per year.

Given its positive impact on the environment, the company and its people; flexible work options have always been a part of Dell’s corporate social responsibility plan. The goal for 2020 is to encourage eligible Dell team members to leverage flexible work options, increasing global participation to 50%. As of the recently released FY18 2020 Legacy of Good Plan, Dell has surpassed its 2020 goal, with 58% of team members leveraging flexible work in their jobs!

As Sara concurs, “Companies that are looking to the future and considering the transformation of work, are going to be the ones who are successful. And Dell is one of the companies that is really listening to people and evolving with the workplace.”
